1-5 Electives
The elective program for grades 1-5 in an innovative enrichment opportunity for students to participate in their learning experience at Country Day. Elective classes meet from 12:00 – 12:45 Monday & Wednesday and Tuesday and Thursday for grades 1-2 and 12:45 – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday & Friday and Tuesday & Thursday for grades 3-5. Students select two electives each quarter that meet twice weekly from an array of selections.
6-8 Electives
In order to provide a fully rounded education, students in grades 6-8 are asked to choose electives quarterly. By deciding on an elective, the students are investing themselves in what they learn. Experience has shown, and common sense reaffirms, that the more involved students are, the more they learn.
Every quarter, students choose electives which are offered from 1:30-2:25 M-F and 2:30-3:25 T/Th. Every effort is made to allow students their first choice, but because of time and class size constraints, that is not always possible. We encourage diversity in the choice of electives, but students are required to take at least two art electives and two music electives throughout the course of the year.
